Project Overview

At a private residence in Plano, Texas, a Renlita Fold system creates a connection between an interior entertainment area and the adjacent swimming pool. The motorized vertical folding glass door transforms a substantial exterior opening into a flexible transition between indoor and outdoor living spaces. With expansive glazing and a Satin Black frame finish, the system complements the home’s contemporary architecture while supporting a more connected environment for entertaining and relaxation.

The Challenge

Designing an indoor entertainment area adjacent to a swimming pool presents an opportunity to create a seamless relationship between interior and exterior spaces. However, conventional door configurations can interrupt sightlines and limit the available opening between these environments. At Rock Residence, the architectural design called for a solution that could accommodate a large opening, preserve views of the pool, and provide the flexibility to connect or separate the spaces as needed.

The Solution

The Renlita Fold, formerly known as the S-3000 Foldaway, provides a motorized vertical folding door solution for the pool-facing entertainment area. Spanning an opening more than 17 feet wide, the system features insulated glass panels that fold upward when activated, creating a broad passage between the interior and exterior. When closed, the glass maintains a visual connection to the pool while providing a defined boundary between the two environments. Its Satin Black finish integrates with the home’s architectural design, allowing the door to function as both a practical opening and a distinctive architectural feature.

Key Benefits

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Connection

The Fold system creates a direct connection between the home’s interior entertainment area and outdoor swimming pool. By opening vertically, the glass panels clear the primary passage and allow the two environments to function as a more unified space. This configuration supports the flow of movement between indoor gatherings and poolside activities, making the transition between the spaces feel more natural.

Flexible Space for Entertaining

A motorized folding glass door gives the entertainment area the flexibility to adapt to different activities and conditions. When open, the Fold creates an expansive connection to the pool deck, allowing guests to move between indoor and outdoor areas. When closed, the insulated glass panels maintain separation while preserving views of the surrounding outdoor environment. This versatility makes the system well-suited for residential spaces designed around entertaining and indoor-outdoor living.

Expansive Poolside Views

The Fold system’s large glass panels provide an uninterrupted visual connection to the poolside environment when the door is closed. The combination of Low-E insulated glazing and a Satin Black frame creates a contemporary architectural feature that complements the residence. By incorporating expansive glass into the exterior opening, the design maintains a strong relationship between the home’s interior entertainment space and the outdoor setting.
