BARD COLLEGE'S MULTI-USE SPACE

THE PROJECT

Bard College in New York embarked on a unique architectural project to create a multi-use space for its students. The project aimed to utilize shipping containers to construct an innovative space that met the needs of Bard College's diverse student community. The design challenge was to create a structure that was not only aesthetically pleasing but flexible and conducive to a dynamic learning environment.

Many manufacturers build industrial hangar doors that can be slow-moving, loud, and prone to hazardous hydraulic fluid leaks, but Bard College needed something better. To achieve this vision the college collaborated with Renlita to design a 16’x7’ S-2000 Hingeway door with Low-E glass cladding on the first floor.

OUR SOLUTION

The S-2000 Hingeway counterweight door, provided by Renlita, was the perfect choice for this project due to its exceptional flexibility and features. It provides less intrusion into the interior, less unusable space when open, and more of a canopy to the exterior. It also runs on 110v, unlike hydraulic pump doors, which usually require 240v and a large bulky cutoff box.

The door was installed on the first floor, acting as a focal point and connecting the interior space with the surrounding landscape. Its impressive dimensions, measuring 16x7 feet, ensured an expansive opening, allowing the building to easily transform for the needs of the students and faculty.

The door had glass cladding, which added to its aesthetic appeal and served a functional purpose. The glass cladding flooded the interior space with abundant natural light, creating a bright and inviting ambiance for various activities. The infusion of natural light played a pivotal role in promoting a creative and positive learning environment.

SUNDANCE SQUARE PAVILION EVENT VENUE

THE PROJECT

Located in the heart of downtown Fort Worth, Texas, Sundance Square Pavilion is a stunning and popular destination for both private and public events. The venue caters to a wide range of events, including weddings, corporate functions, exhibitions, cultural gatherings, and community festivals. The most obvious design challenge was to enhance the venue's flexibility and accessibility, and the management sought modern and customizable door solutions.

OUR SOLUTION

Sundance Square Pavilion needed something better than hydraulic doors as many are slow, noisy, and can leak dangerous fluids. After careful consideration, they chose to put sixteen S-2000 Hingeway doors on three sides of the building to increase access and flexibility. The S-2000 Hingeway doors have gained recognition for their innovative design, which combines the functionality of a door with the elegance of a glass wall in a unique folding design.

The installation at Sundance Square Pavilion has been a game-changer for the venue's functionality and aesthetics. The doors' versatility, minimized internal projection, and ability to maximize the opening size have provided the management with unprecedented customization options for each event.

Additionally, the doors improve public access and participation, making the venue more appealing and welcoming to everyone in Fort Worth, Texas. With the S-2000 Hingeway doors, Sundance Square Pavilion continues to leave a lasting impression on its visitors and remains a symbol of elegance and adaptability in the event industry.

While the venue's design successfully integrated the indoors and outdoors, there was a desire to make the space even more versatile. The task was to find a solution that smoothly combined the inside and outside, worked for different events, and let guests enjoy the nearby working farm. This case study highlights how innovative solutions in event spaces can transform the guest experience and redefine event design possibilities.

OUR SOLUTION

The installation of the S-3000 Foldaway Door emerged as the perfect solution to elevate the venue's adaptability and provide a huge selling point for those high-end events. Positioned on the western side of the pavilion, the door facilitated a direct connection between the indoor event space and the sprawling outdoor terrace. The door's innovative folding mechanism enabled it to be opened or closed based on event requirements, seamlessly merging the interior and exterior spaces.

The addition of the S-3000 Foldaway Door transformed the Javits Center rooftop venue into an even more versatile and enchanting space. Pearl Dive Oyster Palace sought a unique and versatile solution, and their answer came in the form of the S-1000 Floataway Vertical Door. THE PROJECT

The Marriott Moxy Hotel, in Washington, D.C., wanted to redefine the guest experience and elevate its vibrant atmosphere. The hotel wanted a design that would connect the inside and outside spaces and have a lively and colorful atmosphere. The goal was to create an inviting and flexible gathering spot for guests within the hotel's dynamic and colorful atmosphere. Traditional doors with tracks or loud hydraulic systems were not aligned with the hotel's design philosophy, prompting the search for an innovative solution.

OUR SOLUTION

The solution to Marriott Moxy Hotel's quest for a transformative design lay in the installation of two S-3000 Foldaway Vertical Lift Bifold Doors. These innovative doors, a departure from traditional garage doors with tracks or loud hydraulic doors, introduced a new level of flexibility and connectivity to the hotel's game room lobby area and outdoor patio. THE PROJECT

Hotel X, located in Toronto, Ontario, is renowned for its commitment to providing a luxurious and unique experience for its guests. The hotel wanted to enhance its rooftop pool area and planned to achieve this by adding a custom door over the pool, which is sealed to the water's surface to provide a usable indoor area in poor weather. This door would not only make the area look more elegant but also allow people to use it throughout the year, no matter the weather.

The challenge was to design and install a door system that would seal seamlessly to the surface of the rooftop pool, effectively keeping the cold air and inclement weather out. Hotel X aimed to create an extraordinary space where patrons could luxuriate in the pool, surrounded by breathtaking views of the city skyline, regardless of the weather conditions.
